AprilApril Bramble wants her students to get the recognition they deserve as educators of children from birth to age five. She has pursued this goal for 25 years as a teacher, the last six of them at Perry Career Academy in Jonesboro, GA. “I work very hard,” she says, “to ensure that all my students are prepared as professional early childhood educators and caregivers to meet the developmental, emotional and educational needs of our nation’s youngest children.”

So, she pays attention to all the details as she guides her high school students in earning their Child Development Associate® (CDA) credential. “My students take four levels of ECE courses, as well as performing an internship that provides them with over 600 hours of experience working with young children,” she says. And “everything I do aligns with the CDA Essentials and Performance Standards outlined by the Council for Professional Recognition. My students are very knowledgeable about the various endorsements and requirements to earn their credential.”

She also helps them succeed by building great relationships within the industry and local businesses. She goes out of her way to help people in need by serving as a consultant and board member for several child care and education centers. In addition, she’s a Professional Development Specialist who mentors candidates for the CDA and an advisor to the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America organization at her school. Her chapter has received national recognition for sponsoring workshops that help young people make a difference in their communities and their careers.

But what’s most remarkable about April is her dedication to her work and willingness to find new ways to support learning. As a result, her current students have a 100 percent success rate in earning their CDA. And her future classes can look forward to similar success.

“I want to continue training high school students to become the very best child care and education providers in the field,” she says. So, she strives to keep giving them her best by always enhancing her knowledge and skills. As an educator and leader in her field, she deserves 100 percent of the recognition she has received.
