The Council’s Concern for Children Coming to the U.S. without Parents

Record numbers of unaccompanied young children are crossing the southern border of our nation. The Council is deeply concerned because healthy development in young children depends on stable bonds with at least one caring adult. As we witness the ongoing border crisis, we urge early childhood teachers to remember best practices for supporting children who’ve been through trauma. “We must firmly resolve to do no harm to these young children,” says Council CEO Dr. Calvin E. Moore, Jr., “as we wait for them to rejoin their families.”
